Frequently-asked questions

When do I need to replace my hot water system?

Every hot water system needs upgrading at some point. Some signs that yours may need replacing include:

  • frequent breakdown
  • water not heating to correct temperature
  • high energy bills due to an inefficient system
  • your system is badly corroded
Should my hot water system be regularly serviced?

Yes. There are different recommendations for servicing. This depends on the hot water system you’re using. Generally, our advice is:

  • every year, have a plumber service your system’s continuous flow
  • every six months, you should lift the lever on the pressure and temperature relief valve for about 10 seconds (or as recommended by your Owners’ Instruction Information Sheet). Then have this serviced every five years. This applies to both electric and gas hot water systems.
  • Service your solar hot water system every five years
  • Service your heat pump once a year.

This ensures that your system is working at its best and may extend the life of your hot water system.

Which hot water system is best for me?

The best system for you will depend on your household’s or business’s needs. It depends on the size of your home or workplace, amongst other things.

We’ve got great working relationships with a variety of suppliers. This ensure we’ve got access to the best materials. If we wouldn’t use it in our own home or business, we won’t recommend it to you.
